Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone in China’s "Twelve-five plan" has been included in the construction of the national urban construction system. It is not only an important part of the southwest, and its’comprehensive economic strength; But also one of the construction area and the most important urban agglomerations in China’s western regions. Study on the evolution of urban spatial structure for the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone to promote the urbanization process, and promote south-west region, and even the entire western region’s sustainable economic development. All these research works are of great strategic significance.1. Firstly, it expounds the background and significance of the study object, and the scope. And then it introduces the research idea and research methods.2. Focuses on the evolution of urban spatial structure about related concepts. Summarized the concept of urban agglomeration and urban spatial structure; the research situation and the related theory and school at home and abroad are introduced; finally discusses the influencing factors of urban spatial structure.3. Application of space syntax theory and in downtown Chongqing as an example to demonstrate the evolution of urban spatial dimension. Within Chongqing’s urban development, it selects the three status map. And then based on space syntax theory and application of GIS software, it realizes this evolution of visual processing.4. Based on fractal theory, it conducts a detailed analysis and research on the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone. Presented an overview of this area, and carried out on the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone rank-size analysis, functional analysis of structural characteristics, spatial characteristics of analysis, it explores the development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone problems from different angles.5. Draw conclusions and propose inadequate and prospects.
